5 reasons why people have consistent belief in the religion
Since from the dawn of civilization major percent of the man has been religious and hold some sorts of spiritual beliefs. People believe that the moral laws prevailed in the societies might be derived from these religious principles. This moral system is laid on the supernatural beliefs where all the religious beliefs persist.
As I mentioned above, there is a common notion that the morality is excerpted from the religious texts, scripts or principles. It is true that the religions expressed this morality profoundly. But there was morality before the existence of the religions. Research in the biology and the sociobiology has shown that the precursors of human morality occur in the social animals especially in the primates such as the chimpanzees and bonobos. Thus, it is clear that the religions emerged after morality; hence, indeed the need of religions for the morality is absurd.
Religions hold some sort of virtues, faith, and dogmas that are similar to each other but are having dissimilarities with the religious practices of the religions. The religions are unempirical as they express everything in terms of beliefs and faiths without involving the human mind to think rationally. They express everything such as the reality of the life, happiness, sorrows, etc. in terms of supernatural realms that which becomes inaccessible to the rational mind. As Bierce mentioned “Religion a daughter of Hope and Fear, explaining to ignorance the nature of the Unknowable.”
It doesn’t mean to be religious in the spiritual practices. The difference in belief between a religious person and a spiritual person is that the former fails to see the multitude in oneness and the latter can see the oneness in multitude. It is the state where he becomes a perfect yogi and knows the realities of life. This state is not experienced with the intuition of the mind.
The recent studies on religion and intelligence have shown that the people having high IQs are less religious. People having high IQs are more rational rather than been superstitious and doesn’t blindly follow the concepts of supernatural expressed in religious texts. So they become less religious as the concept of religious principles is expressed in the supernatural realms. Some children at the age of 14 and 15 will also be less religious, but such cases are due to some other reasons.
I am not saying that the religions are trivial; it also supports some valuable purposes mentally, but for spirituality, there is no requirement for the religion. A spiritual person may be religious in his culture or tradition, but an irrational religious person cannot be spiritual.
Why couldn't most of the people in one religious faith accept the principles and precepts of other religions?
Whether, the ultimate goal of the religions remains the same as the path to divine, but there are many inconsistencies among the religious practices. These inconsistencies are the factors that put the frontiers among the religions and make one unadaptable to the other religious principles.
The religious beliefs can cause the unnecessary conflicts among the societies and even has the communal power to ruin the human kind. Because of these, it is considered that the religions are incompatible with the world peace and security.
This article is not intent to hurt any religious principles but only highlights the causes for the consistencies in the religious beliefs.
Below are few of the noted facts that make the humankind consistent with their religious beliefs.
1. Consistent reinforcement of beliefs
The children are more perceptible to the religious beliefs. When certain religious beliefs are reinforced throughout their lives, those beliefs get encoded in their mind without any resistance. Thus, it makes very hard to shake their beliefs and there is no room for the alternate beliefs. Since they are more attached to the encoded beliefs, so they resist similar other religious beliefs.
The religious preachers and all sorts of community leaders use various psychological factors intentionally to convey the messages to the believers. In certain religions, religious classes for the children are mandatory as they are more perceptible for the religious teachings and beliefs. Hence, when they become an adult they will have a consistent belief in their religion. (See 7 Most Effective Mind Control Techniques You Should be Aware)

Humans are social beings. As their life principles are the same, thus it makes them more attached to the community without any hesitation.
The sense of social security and being with a common group that which supports their life is inevitable to the social people. If they are not much religious, they would still stick to the group for the need of a social community.
When a mass beliefs in certain ideologies, the people in that community will adhere to that principles and customs, eventually making them more adaptable and, therefore, having a persistent belief in that religion.
3. Role of culture and traditional background
Some religions are adopted with the cultures and traditions of the people. These cultures and traditions are the essences of their religion. The way of living and customs of these people belongs to their religious rights makes them have a consistent belief in their religion.
4. Moral and emotional needs
The study shows that the people stick to the religious principles to support their moral and emotional needs. When people become old few of them become more religious, as the dearest ones have passed away they become more oblige to the religious precepts to meet their emotional needs.
When a person encountered a sudden change in his life such as the loss of his son or facing any difficult life situations he may become religious to supports his emotional mind. Such persons rely on religious principles to reduce the burden of their life.
It is righteous to have a guardian to protect them and to shed light along with their life journey. Such a divine entity mentioned in the religious texts makes them have a consistent belief in that religion.
In the case of maintaining an emotional stability in the person, religions played an important role to a certain extent that is inevitable. It is that the people feel to be consoled when they have a divine savior who is expected to support them in all of their needs.
5. The role of family and peer pleasure
When a child is grown up by the family, he gets accustomed with the family beliefs. If the family is religious, certainly the child becomes religious as he is raised by the particular religious precepts. He instinctively follows the religious concepts as the way he is being programmed because there won’t be any resistance in accepting the faiths. It is because that he belongs to the family of elder people who follows the religious path.
The child becomes more religious due to his irrational mind that is been fed up by the fantasies and the fairy tales of the religious texts.
