How to Increase Your Confidence Through Meditation?

According to psychology, confidence is a state of mind or certain mentality that shows faith in your skills and abilities to perform a certain task. A person who is confident in certain task might not be very much confident in other similar tasks. This article gives an overview of the role of the mind and what level of confidence the aspirant can achieve in a short period of time.

Taking a deep breath, as when you are going to face the audience from the stage or to give a presentation, helps you to perform it successfully. Having a deep breath will reduce the stress and the mind becomes more controllable, since when one becomes stressed, his rhythm of breath will be lost and the quantity of intake will also be less.

The research has shown that the deep and controlled breathing normalizes the blood pressure and reduces the heart rate. One’s intellect, cognitive behavior, etc. functions in its full throttle only in the relaxed state. This is the reason that the increased state of confidence can only be seen in the relaxed state.

Meditating in the chakra of confidence

The subconscious mind is responsible for all the involuntary actions in our body. One’s personality is mostly dependent upon the activity of this subconscious mind. The level of confidence is also rooted in this mind. By knowing how the subconscious mind works and programming the subconscious mind to increase the confidence works well. The confidence increased by this method is a temporary one and you require a regular boosting to maintain its level. Through this, you can become confident only in certain matters and you feel still less confident in other common areas.

I have said that the subconscious mind is influenced by the svadhisthana chakra. The energy and functions of the svadhisthana chakra  can greatly affect the subconscious level activities in a man. Balancing the chakra through meditation and also programming the subconscious mind through meditation (concentrating only on certain aspect) or directly taking the necessary steps such as developing the skills, requisite practices makes one truly confident.

Meditation makes your mind even more powerful and thereby attaining certain qualities becomes easier and faster. In advanced yogis, such qualities are attained naturally in their spiritual journey. The life event of Swami Vivekananda will give you a clearer insight.

Once, Swami Vivekananda was traveling in a ship to Chicago. In the ship, few men were trying to shoot the egg shells floating on the water with the rifle. None could hit the target successfully. Swami Vivekananda was watching them, and one of them asked with Swami to have a try. Swami Vivekananda agreed and took the rifle, positioned in his shoulder and shot the egg shells with ease. The rifle was triggered for twelve times and none was lost.

On seeing this performance they were all amazed and one man asked swami “How could you do this? Whether you had any prior experience in shooting with the rifle.” Swami Vivekananda replied, “This was the first time I used a rifle.”

This shows the great concentration power of Swami Vivekananda and also his higher level of confidence.
